HOW TO BE INTELLIGENT

I believe you’ve wondered why some people are just the way there are. Though naturally endowed, yet there is a driving force that  let’s them come out successfully in anything they do. This has do with certain principles that works for them. Some people have good memory, some have fast understanding, and some have concentration etc. Depending on what you are born with. Intelligence can be natural or acquired. If you just naturally dull, you have to work very hard to increase your assimilation. Before I start adumbrating on the strategies to be intelligent, I will like to point clearly here that the best way to be intelligent is to study and emulate intelligent people.

Reading: No matter how brilliant you are, if you don’t study you become duller than the dullest person you know of. Reading helps to update and refresh your knowledge. Reading is like doing a job that has this tag “the more you work, the more you get paid”. From this adage, we can infer here that, if you work less, you will be less paid. One of the secret of intelligent people is reading (I mean studying). Sometimes we overwork ourselves and end dosing while reading or we often pay less concentration while we read either due to the environment which may be self induce or naturally uncoducive for reading. Conscious efforts must be made to scale through. Note, one thing is to read another is to understand the next is to recall or remember.

The patterns of reading for maximum understanding and memory are listed below:
1.     Always relax at noon to avoid sleep when reading especially for those who enjoy reading at night.

2.     For maximum concentration and assimilation, always stay in a quiet place to read or study.

3.     Exercise your body to increase your brain performance ( I don’t mean exercising the whole day) do this in preference to watching movie as a way of relieve. The screen drains the brain performance.

4.     Don’t be discouraged when you read the first time and you don’t understand. It is always the case for everybody who reads something that is new especially those with  new terms. Reading a topic the first time is like a visitor coming to your house the first time. You will not have so much information about him even if he decides to tell you his life story the whole night. But by his continuous visit you become acquainted with his manner of speech, behavior, the way he handles things and so on. This is exactly what happens when we read a topic the first time. All you have to do is continue reading and you will enjoy reading.

Curiosity: have you ever discovered that our scientist discover so many things out of curiosity? It always good to be inquisitive, ready to learn at any time. Make reading much interesting by transforming it to your hobby then you can be among the scientist who will be one of the salts that have been added to humanity.

Social activities: I know many will not like this point of view but it’s the truth. Intelligent people are not really social as think. If you have not discovered, read about intelligent people.

Retentive Memory:  As adumbrated earlier, some people are naturally endowed with the ability to retain information for a long time. This help to avoid reading over and over again. If you don’t have good memory you can improve by always taking notes during lectures, seminar, speech etc. another way of boosting your retentive ability is by taking the Necessary diets required to improve brain performance such as fruits and water. Before closing your book try to recall what you have read. Revisit those items that have not stuck to your brain. Always use pen and paper while reading to jot and to sketch graphically, Depending on what works for you.  Some people retain more when they listen than when they read while some recall fast when they put what they have read or learnt into drawings, picture, sketch. Give yourself this test to see what works best for you. When you find yourself reading a word over and over again without recalling, know that you have less concentration, therefore your attention becomes divided causing you to read over and over again.
